Avoid cheap & Nasty supermarket specials

"The difference between salon-professional shampoos versus supermarket shampoo is the investment made in the product development to protect hair against UV protection, thermal repair from over-styling and colour fade preservation"

The internal makings of professional shampoos and conditioners are more concentrated with essential ingredients to repair hair from the inside out.Supermarket shampoos are generally detergent based, so they will lather up and give you the impression that it is cleansing faster, but this is smoke and mirrors, as it cleanses from the outside in fact in  some parts of the world when colour does not work out, supermarket shampoos are often used to strip colour out faster ~ yes its sad but true

So professional is best for that reason as it’s all about protecting your investment, so your hair colour actually lasts with hair product that suits your hair and of course within your budget  giving you good clean results, but doesn’t leave your hair feeling brittle or stripped when you jump out of the shower;that said many supermarket brands are created with price being the first priority.

To save money, a manufacturer will use cheaper ingredients or less of a more expensive component; which explains why so much money is spent trying to green wash us into believing their products are healthy and organic when in fact this is far from the truth; salon brands are created with performance being top priority, so it can be argued that you’re likely to get better performance by using  professional products only.

Are you blowdrying your hair properly?

Follow these blow-Drying Tips and Tricks at home for yourself

1. If at all possible, don't use the high heat settings of your blow-dryer. The air stream should feel comfortable on the back of your hand.

2. Keep your distance! Keep the hair dryer at least 8 inches away from your hair.

3. If your hair is fine you should set the air stream to low. Otherwise, you may end up with tangles in your hair.

4. Blow-dry every individual hair strand from the roots to the ends. This technique provides smooth cuticle layers, which are the basis for healthy, shiny, and well-protected hair.

5. You should keep the blow-dryer moving constantly to avoid applying too much heat in a single spot. We recommend dividing the hair in several portions and securing the strands with large hair clips or grips. Work your way up blow-drying your hair from the neckline to the crown of your head so that you don't hit the same strand of hair multiple times.

6. Most of us have to somehow live with the morning rush. Whenever you must speed up drying your hair use a higher setting for the air stream, not for the heat.

7. Always use a heat protectant. These products help prevent blow-drying damage.

8. Try not to blow-dry your hair immediately after shampooing. Ideally, you should allow your hair to first dry for 15 minutes under a towel turban. This saves effort and also cuts down on the hair exposure to the blow-dryer.

9. The diffuser attachment of your blow-dryer spreads out a more even air stream. This also prevents exposing individual strands of hair to too much heat.

10. Once you are done blow-drying your hair, briefly apply a stream of cool air. This cooling step gives your hair more elasticity.

Four Ways to Make Your Hair Colour Last Longer

Whether you get your hair carefully and professionally tinted by a master colorist, or you just grab a shade from chemist warehouse and DIY, hair colour never seems to stay as perfect, vibrant, or true as it is when it's freshly done. Within a few weeks, roots and gray hairs begin to break through; brunettes get brassy, reds fade pinkish, and blond hair gets straw-like and orange. It's no surprise that the way we take care of our hair has a lot to do with how long and how well the color lasts. But don't stress, Try these easy methods for preserving that dye job until your next salon appointment

just cool it

The absolute best way to preserve your hair color doesn’t require you to visit the salon or purchase another product; just wash your hair with cool water rather than with hot. Washing can strip your hair of valuable oils, and hard water can leave mineral deposits. When you use hot water, the hair’s cuticle further opens up , thereby accelerating the process. It’s also a good idea to wash your hair less frequently (every other day is fine), especially if your color is prone to fading.

Just hold it

It's one of the most common mistakes, but also one of the most costly. After having your hair coloured it recommended to wait a full 72 hours before shampooing as It takes up to three days for the cuticle layer to fully close, which traps the color molecule, allowing for longer lasting hair colour. So before you go running for that shower just hold it.
